B.4.1.1. Health Care

Introduction

In its broadest sense, environmental health comprises those aspects of human health, disease, and injury that are determined or influenced by factors in the environment. This includes the study of both the direct pathological effects of various chemical, physical, and biological agents as well as the effects on health of the broad physical and social environment, which includes housing, urban development, land use and transportation, industry, and agriculture.

Environmental health is an integral part of the state and local public health system. Events in the last several years, including natural and manmade disasters, terrorism, and food borne disease outbreaks, have pointed this out again and again. Furthermore, as research sheds light on environmental hazards and on the environment’s impact on overall health, the public increasingly looks toward the environmental health community for its expertise and leadership.

The Health Care Group of CARiMan is an initiative that promotes the use of data and information system standards to advance the development of efficient, integrated, and interoperable surveillance systems at national, county and local levels. The aim of this group is to develop a robust architecture, for the management and accomplishment of the TeleAssistance and HomeCare, validated by scientists and technologists who allow the improvement of the patients' life quality by avoiding unnecessary displacements, as well as the improvement of the attendance and the control of the diseases.

There are six JPAs that consist the Health Care group. These are:

JPA He Application of CARiMan for health monitoring in risk situations”,

JPA Eh Monitoring of Environmental Health Risks”,

JPA SM Stress Management in Risk Situations”,
